The Big Big Train is bloody awful MOR plops.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

It's necessary for me or else I'll forget which match was from which group, especially when there are 10 matches up!
There's nothing wrong with the numbering. All people have to do is look. It couldn't be clearer.

Maybe I should just number the matches 1 to 10 in each round with odd numbers for Group 1 and even for group 2. Never/ever is right that the voters don't really need to know the groups but I do and that method may scan better as a thread title and still enable me to keep track of things. The numbering was for my benefit rather than anyone elses.
I'm glad you understand it at least

A big big A
"East Coast Racer" is the best track on the album imo but "Curator of Butterflies" is a beautiful song with loads going on.
And kath, you have some good times ahead discovering this band's wunnerful music.

Both could have been half as long. In fact Big Big Train could have stayed in the sidings for me.

This was the first time I'd heard the Big Big Train song. It sounds more like the sloppy side of Kayak and is at least 3 minutes too long. The Renaissance song is magnificent.

The Big Big Train track seems very much in line with the latter-day works of Neo-Prog bands like Marillion and I.Q., with all its pros and cons. It's something part of me feels I should hate, but actually works a lot better than expected. I still don't see myself rushing out for this album, though. Also, nice to see a bit of 2013 prog in the competition.
The Renaissance is a more classic track, perhaps, but it's really, really good. I feel a bit like a hypocrite for punishing the Hawkwind choice on the previous match and then cutting this choice more flack, but then again, I enjoyed the Gilgamesh track a whole lot more than the Big Big Train one.

mwhaha.
might i just add at this juncture that i really am glad you came to the party, clive the neville. it's true. i just don't get to see you enough cuz we don't usually hang out in the same corners. but as silly as it sounds, sometimes i think of you when i play a certain band. that band will remain unnamed, lest it should make an appearance in this competition and i end up unfairly pointin the finger at you or some such. (not the neville brothers, mind.)
p.s. i'm glad for all the new players this time around, of course. er... until we match up head to head and i decide to get bitchy-pouty about it all.

Sorry B but to my mind Renaissance only made 1.5 albums with Jane and Keith Relf - then they plummeted and gained a voice Haslam - that I am not too keen on
They should have changed the band name and didn't and that has always been a major barrier for me.
One of our dear esteemed and learned friends has been banging on about Big Big Train and I like, very much, the track selected

How long is each match supposed to last?
