But considerably better informed!

Did you ever get/read the Craig Brown Beatles book, R? What did you think. I thoroughly enjoyed it

I still haven't got it nut I can't remember why now. Maybe they didn't have it in stock in Spanish Amazon (where we have Prime).
Thanks for the reminder. I'll look into it again tonight. I do want to read it.

I started the New Year with vague aspirations to keep up as much as possible with a Shakespeare reading project to read all the plays and sonnets during the calendar year. I knew I wouldn't be able to do it all, but am trying to fill the gaps in my meager reading and hoped to get to all the heavy hitters and a few of the more minor ones. But, of course, since we got back from the UK and Europe in January, I've been pretty much underwater with work (which is almost entirely reading and writing).

So far, I've managed Twelfth Night, Comedy of Errors, and Julius Caesar. I started Hamlet over Easter weekend with all intentions of knocking it out over a few days, but was almost immediately waylaid by work stuff. I must get back into it. It's been hugely rewarding (as I expected) but takes a fair amount of work. Julius Caesar, in particular, is a motherfucker.

Anyway, why the fuck would I give that capitalist lickspittle Jeff Bezos my credit card details and address when he'd only go and tell his mates in the CIA where I live.

I put my neighbour's address, and pay via a stolen credit card. I am effectively 'off the grid'.

Just finished that.

It is about them as people rather than them as musicians and so a bit more up my street.

It is basically a very upmarket cut and paste job but Brown ranges far more widely than music writing and so it is more of a social history of the Beatles

A good read as long as you aren't a Beatles obsessive who knows what they had for breakfast the day they recorded the Long and Winding Road.

If that is case you will have read it all before.

I enjoyed it.
