when was BCB last great?

Hm?

by the way - the wording of the question looks odd to me, something unfathomable to non-native speakers for sure. Could anyone rephrase it?

I wouldn't say as long as 5 years ago but longer than 2.

Truly great? Maybe 8 ot 9 years ago, sadly. There was a constant buzz around the place, jolly ups everywhere, 20-30 people in the secret Santa thing and the board was just somewhere you wanted to be all the time to see what was going on.

Not to say that all that disappeared overnight but I think those were the glory years.

I was leafing through some stuff the other week in my loft and came across that photo montage that Prof did of all major BCB posters - there must have been 100 - 150 people on it.

That would have been 2003/04.

Too many good posters have left for me to say that it's great now - there simply isn't a buzz about the place. I have to agree with Hugh - around 2006/07?

I think around 2003/2004 there was some Old School Tie bollocks going on - a bunch of fellas who were mates and into the same kind of music just circling around each other. A year or two later it got livelier with some intake from other boards, so I'd say the greatness began around 2005.

As to when it stopped being great, maybe around 2008/2009. But there were a couple more good years left.

Maybe that was a peak, I dunno, I joined around then so I can't really remember. I think Friday nights still used to crackle around here (sync listens were a bonus) up to around 2011 ish.

It was great for the last time on Saturday April 18th 2015 - the date of GoogaMooga's final post.

I was going to say that the last time it was great was just before you made you final post here. It has been a desert ever since. :(

Actually, it's still pretty great albeit a lot quieter than it used to be, obviously.

For me, the best years were, as JC says, probably 2004 to 2009 ish.
There used to be a great blend of humour and information then and the whole place seemed to ooze interest. I still find all that here, just in fun-size portions these days.

It's a blessing that there is still a core of people who continue to start threads and keep the old place breathing - left to the likes of me, it would have sunk without trace years ago.

God, you're right Michael. I forgot for a moment that I left in 2004 and, of course, it's been a shit hole ever since.

I wouldn't have a clue. I'll accept the inferrence it isn't great now though I like it.

But I'd hazard a guess based on other sites - it was last great just before the first person here said 'this place ain't what it used to be'. So when was that, then? Day 2?

Day 2 was awful. Even worse than day 1. This place was probably at it's best before it was even set up.
