Man Spends $2 Million To Create His Own Batcave

Postby beenieman » 08 Aug 2012, 20:50

What have you done with your life lately?

The Daily Mail reports that a Batman fan has spent two million dollars on his very own Batcave home theater.

The theater contains a Batmobile, batsuits, 180 degree film screen, winged gargoyles, a private cylindrical stainless steel elevator with glowing bat symbol, mock secret tunnel exit, bat computers, and race-car inspired home theater chairs. It was built by Canadian-based Elite Home Theater Seating at a private home in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The entire home theater is 12,000 square feet and is not only meant to resemble the Batcave, but Wayne Manor. It includes a separate study which is the entrance to the cinema. Just like Batman's secret entrance, the study features a grandfather clock, bookshelves and a bust of William Shakespeare. Turning Shakespeare's head swings the grandfather clock around to reveal the elevator doors. A fingerprint scan is required.

There is a Bat symbol at the bottom of the button panel and to the left, the letter B for Batcave. When you press the symbol you begin to drop, as your body is scanned by floor-to-ceiling mirrors. A robotic female voice then says: "Security Clearance Granted."

The cave contains a total of six Batsuits, two on each side of the film screen. There is another bookcase that when a secret book is pulled, silde open to reveal a life-size replica of the Batmobile/Tumbler that is 15 feet long and nearly 10 feet wide. A secret tunnel exit is 30 feet long and ends as it turns a corner. At the rear of the theater is a large gas fireplace with Batcomputer stations on each side. Various graphics appear on hte screens, including images of Batman's rogues gallery.

Elite chief executive Bobby Bala said: "The Dark Knight themed custom home theater was actually a design concept we did free of charge for one of our previous clients, mainly just for fun. Personally, I'm a huge Batman fan and with a background in CG animation, we were able to finish up the design within a couple weeks."

The theater is not finished, and won't be until November 2012. However the images are CG renderings of what the finished product will look like.

It's cool, but it could still use the dinosaur and the giant penny...

Super awesome! But I'm disappointed it wasn't the '60s one, which looked better (lighting, colors, IMO of course).
