..and why not?

Having just finished the audio book I know the ending. I liked it a lot, and I don't go for that sort of thing, But now I'm a sucker for chivalry. Do the bad guys get it in the end? I'll never tell. hahahahahah.

The best thing about the series is it preserves the catty wit and scathing dialogue of the books. And the actors nail it so well.

Jimbo, isn't the point that in Martin's world, the chivalrous don't do very well? You have to have a touch of self-preservation instinct to survive.

Well, I won't say which ones are still alive at the end of the fourth book.

Fourth book by Martin's silly splitting, or actual publishing order? :D

Not sure I know what you mean.

The fourth book published was A Feast for Crows, which was about 900 pages. The book due out next month, A Dance with Dragons, will be just as long and cover the same timeline as AFFC. Originally they were supposed to be one book but he decided it would be too long, so he opted to do two books, each focusing on different characters.

As he did with the two previous, which are split into two. So you have book 1, book 2, book 3 (part 1), book 3 (part 2), book 4 (part 1), book 4 (part 2)...

Why not just 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? Was sort of my point/joke.

He also said A Dance With Dragons was ready as A Feast For Crows was published. 5 years ago. He's only a couple of months short of Robert Jordan...

Meh, I won't be reading them anyway.

Interesting, maybe they're later publications? The copies I have have got author's notes explaining why he chose to split the books...

Anyway, my point remains. He outta get a wriggle on, he's not getting any younger and Brandon Sanderson might be busy. ;)

True, the chivalrous ones do not do very well. Good guys die, but in the end some of them do survive and kept their honor - - - while hacking to bits as many of the enemy as they can. :?

As usual I'm behind the wave not having Sky. But I've got the box set on pre-order with Amazon. Roll on March!
Then Mick asked 'Would it make me a class traitor if I banged Thatcher?'

Thing is, Sean Bean being in it has put me off, but now I've got into the books & know his fate I don't mind so much.

If you didn't know I REALLY don't like Sean Bean. I must have been the only person the cheer when Boromir bought it in Fellowship.

He's actually very good in this but if you don't like him he is in it for a fair bit...it's worth putting up with that though for the rest of it...it's very rude ;)

Top show, I felt no anticipation about watching it but when I finally did I got righteously sucked in and ended up watching the whole lot in two days over Christmas. Now I've started reading the books and it amazes me how close the TV series got to them...it's probably the most faithful adaptation of a novel that I've ever seen. The casting is perfect I think...I'm no fan of Sean Bean either but he's perfect as Ned Stark, while the chap who plays Tyrion is just brilliant (I believe he's won a few awards for it too right?)

Bring on series 2...more tits, mead and dragons I say!
