Just ordered this for my son:

He's already a big fan of the US series. How did I do?

When it was good, it was very good. But when it was bad...

I can't see the image, but I assume that's a best of you ordered, so you should be in luck. The Brit version had it's fair share of Americans though; Ryan Stiles and Mike McShane spring to mind.

Mike McShane was consistently good in that thing. Slattery and Sessions carried a lot of it - they're the ones that I'd say were very erratic. Both of them were fairly irritating personalities.

I thought Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie were the best.

I used to watch that show constantly in the early '90s (the late '80s shows - we got 'em late, here) - I loved it. Sure, they fall on their faces sometimes, but that's part of the gig - I enjoy seeing them thinking on their feet, as it were. (And I had quite a crush on Josie Lawrence.)

The American version is an embarrassment, not even Colin and Ryan are funny any more, they just do the same things over and over again.

I loved it when it was here, it was great more often than not.

Like any kind of improv, music or theatre, it can be hit or miss. It really depends on the quality of the individuals and the chemistry of the group. I really enjoyed the show for the most part while it was on. It was certainly better than most of the predictable sitcoms on tv.
Learn one thing today: Let the past go. Let it go at any cost. Those who do not forget the past, but remember the past and make it their security will find it very difficult to have a good future.
