Yeah, I make it something like that, B was Matty Red Sox ... to save Griff time: Matty Red Sox Yanked, or maybe Sox Swept. Thanks to all who supported me.

Tough one, Matty, especially after you kicked my ass. I wish we could have combined our lists to create the unstoppable list that could have taken 'A' down. Ah, well.

Gotta admit I was surprised that this was your list, Mr. Sox.
Pepe Kalle, The Church and the Boo-song are killer.

People seem to think that I have the Stones, Who, Beatles, and Ramones on 24/7. I even used the Radleys song on previous lists. My list used only things that I have on vinyl... on the other hand, there's about 10,000 CDs that I also could have chosen from... my African music selections would have been much broader if I used digital, it's amazing how hard it is to find vinyl copies of most African artists.

Matty

have a look at this label - the Nigeria Special series are available on vinyl with extra tracks in most cases - superb music, sleeve notes and packaging. There are a lot of fans of this stuff on BCB and who knows, it might've been worth a further 20 points ;)

They will crowd around us, panting with anguish and disappointment, and exasperated by our proud indefatigable courage, will hurl themselves forward to kill us, with all the more hatred as their hearts will be drunk with love and admiration for us.

I've got that one and the Ghana Sounds... these are awesome compilations... I guess that I should have been clearer, finding original single artists on African label vinyl is really hard... the Pepe Kalle was one of the hardest things for me to locate... and it's not even my favorite by him... this is his awesome album...

with this song...

It would have been easy for me to win, I handicapped myself by declaring that I would only add a song to my list if I had it on vinyl. The NYC BCB'rs saw me purchase the LP with Jigsaw on it.... as well as another future late round pick that will be aborted ... Go All the Way...

.

You coulda had more!

I remember seeing a lot of African LPs in France and Holland where they sold from anywhere between a few sou to quite a packet. Especially the French-speaking African artists seemed to be easier to get through France. Was happy to pick up Bopol's Samedi Soir in a sale in Montmartre years ago and, through several Dutch stores with a great world selection could buy hot African (and Arabian) albums for a decent price...but that was back in the 80s and 90s.
I saw those Kalle-albums a lot in those days and the (bad) CD-prints of them were dirt cheap at one time. Amazing that they're hard to find nowadays.

Yep, still when you went out, we all knew that the rest of the board's taste was questionable.

Good luck to Mike, I mean my opponent!

I thought we'd see the both of them in the final, tbh.

As if NYC needs another thing to be uppity about.
