£50 million for a 21 year old who has scored five EPL goals, and not scored - or done a jot- since November last year?

BBC report
Everton were believed to be willing to pay about £35m but there are likely to be clauses that will take the deal closer to Watford's asking price of £50m.

So, might only be £50m if he's a success. Little faith in the buying acumen of Silva?

He does seem bizarrely overpriced, but we'll see.

I’ve read that the Richarlison fee has been inflated as a kind of pay-off to Watford for ”tapping up” Silva last year...

At £35 million he's a huge huge risk. At £50 million...well, it's absurd.

Now this signing I like much more....

Baines cannot go on for ever and we desperately need to get some youth into our defence - quickly.

Very pleased with the final day in the transfer market - with Mina, Gomes & Bernard, he's really boosted the squad in key places. Zooma at CB as a late loanee is great business too. The interesting one for me is signing Joao Virginia, the 18 year old keeper from Arsenal - plays in the very successful under 19 Portuguese national team and is very highly rated. Weird one with Cech looking increasingly creaky for the Gooners.

I agree Pete. Lots to be optimistic about. I hope they give Dowell a chance though, he can be special.

An excellent performance yesterday, especially after going down to ten men for 50 minutes. A draw at Wolves under those circumstances is pretty good, I think - and a good free flowing game too.

I'm not sure what your point is, Andy.

If he continues to score at the rate he is, then he'll justify his price tag.

Let's see how he is come January. We'll have a better idea then.

I can't remember you commenting on his transfer prior to the season.

I have not as yet mentioned that we're gonna win the league, which means there's a very good chance that we actually will

Worrying injury for Keane ysterday - and that there's been no statement yet as to his present condition.... let's hope he's okay.

A great game at Bournemouth - to go two up (after going down to ten men) was superb. But Bournemouth had a fantastic record of late recoveries last season and did it again yesterday. I think a draw was a fair result all in all.

Hopefully that's the low point of the season - losing 3-1 at home (justifiably) to a West Ham team with no points from the first four games of the season. Desperate stuff.
