RIP Gordon Banks

Cancer at 81

For someone who was the finest goalie of his era and the greatest English keeper of them all, he always came across as a thoroughly decent down-to-earth guy

RIP Mr Banks of England

Lovely story about what he was laughing about immediately after that save below

Certainly one of the greatest keepers I've seen - and a genuinely decent man, by all accounts. Overcame the loss of his eye and continued onwards trying to enrich others around him.

A great and legendary sportsman, in the truest sense of the phrase. RIP Gordon.

Banks of England.

A childhood hero for his footballing prowess, & good to hear from all accounts that he was a very decent man.
