There aren't any week-long super typhoons heading towards Nottinghamshire this evening, are there?

Cricinfo says:

2.6
Starc to Lyth, FOUR, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Starc errs too full and outside off, Lyth unfurls a bent-knee drive, so pretty that is should be danced to at weddings. Lyth caresses it to the cover boundary

For a man who's supposed to be the best batsman in the world, Steve Smith looks absolutely clueless when the ball moves around a bit, doesn't he? I hesitate to use the term "flat track bully" but... Root continues to prove his worth, meanwhile. He's outperformed Smith comfortably. Will be interesting to see if he can perform in South Africa, surely the ultimate challenge.

From the BBC Website :

Peter Whiteley: I see England finished on 274-4 today. Decent but we wont know how good a total that is until Australia have a bat.

As horrendous as the day was for anyone who cares about the state of Australian cricket, I've gotta give it to the person who thought up this headline...

That's one for the ages, damn it.

Out of cruelty, I checked the Sydney Morning Herald's live feed to see how they were coping with yesterday's events in Nottingham. To be fair, they at least kept a decent sense of humour up, even offering praise for a certain English pace bowler through gritted teeth. I liked their online polls, like the one about who would be man of the match. The options were Stuart Broad, Chris Broad's son and S. Broad.....

I think the word for what has happened to England this morning is "complacency". They could have had a first-innings lead of 400 plus here and they're making a mess of it... still an almost indomitable position one imagines.

I think if everyone expected today to go as perfectly as it did yesterday, they must be off their rocker.

Days like that happen once a decade, not on consecutive days.

Well there's a difference between today going perfectly and just not losing four wickets in the first hour, Pete. I think England should have been looking to push on a fair bit further.
Starc has bowled really well though.
