Is this the same chairman who likened the SPL chairmen who want(ed) to change the voting structure to the Arab Spring?

What an arse.

See you're on P&B now, too, FN ;)

In other cheating news, I see that the mysterious rangerstaxcase.com dude has updated (22.5.12), and named one of the names on the dual contracts... that guy must have some great connections :D

Yeah, DAFC.net is so full of idiots these days, I'm going to set up camp over on the P&B Div 1 Forum for next season.

Of course, that's assuming the site doesn't collapse under the weight of the Rangers Admin thread...

Mr / Mrs RangersTaxCase wins Orwell 2012 Blog prize. Well played!

Blog Prize

This year’s Blog Prize judges chose Rangers Tax-Case, as the Blog Prize winner. Rangers Tax-Case says s/he are using their blog to ‘provide the details of what Rangers FC have done, why it was illegal, and what the implications are for one of the largest football clubs in Britain.’ The winning posts investigate the financial scandal surrounding Rangers Football Club.

This year’s Blog Prize judges were Suzanne Moore (journalist, The Guardian and the Mail on Sunday), Hopi Sen (blogger, previously shortlisted and longlisted for the Orwell Prize) and Sean Dodson (Guardian contributor and senior lecturer of journalism at Leeds Metropolitan University).

The judges said: ‘The 2012 Blog Prize showed that not only could blogs comment on current events, they could drive stories forward. Rangers Tax-Case takes what might be a dry topic – the tax affairs of a sports team – and shows how a striving for transitory success has severely distorted sporting, legal and ethical boundaries. Displaying focused contempt for those who evade difficult truths, and beating almost every Scottish football journalist to the real story – Rangers Tax-Case shows how expertise and incisive writing can expose the hypocrisies the powerful use to protect themselves from the consequences of their actions. It is a worthy winner which not only proves that independent blogging is as healthy as it ever was, but also offers a mirror in which our times are reflected.’

Just heard some breaking news from a trusted source - it seems Souness is going to be cleared of having any involvement in the EBT case. All accusations against him regarding the alleged £30k payment have been dropped as it has transpired that the money was paid directly into the account of another individual altogether.

Apparently, this aspect of the investigation has been passed to Merseyside Police who have brought in a Mr Y. Hughes, 67, for questioning. Interesting.

...and so it ends. HMRC have issued a statement saying how they will not support a CVA. R*****s have played their last game.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18407309

now let's see the shenanigans that'll accompany the NewCo and it's position in the SPL or Div 3. Given the state of the finance package (used in the loosest term) that Green has arranged, will any fans actually pay for a season book at this stage, not knowing if there's a team, where they'll be paying and what Green will use the cash for??

Wonder how speedy, or otherwise, an investigation into the dual contracts will happen now....

It's been obvious that SFA and SPL have been waiting for a decision on the CVA before doing anything - if they don't act fast now, the whole fixture list will be a joke.

Pie & Bovril will be in meltdown...

It does make things somewhat easier for the SPL/SFA...imagine the scenario had it gone through and then be rejected during the cooling off period (28 days later).

Even with a new club to get into Div 3, how long does it actually take to set up a club, arrange leasing of a football stadium etc. I mean the SPL starts in 7 weeks time this Saturday!

And then there'd be the issue of who makes up the twelfth spot in the SPL; for the record, I hope it's not Dunfermline - we were the worst team in the SPL last year, we deserve to be relegated. However, whoever it is will have had their budget dictated by being in the SFL and might struggle to get an "SPL" team together.

Whatever, this saga ain't over by a long way - the end of the beginning rather than the beginning of the end...

well if the newco isn't allowed in, then the pars will remain then for another season. As for reduced budgets, I hear there's a squad of players going for free today.

definitely cue lots of fumbling and lies by the beaks in charge of the scottish game in the weeks ahead....CO will probably get a pay rise (not through an EBT this time) on the back of his stewardship during this testing time

Just the one??? :x

I don't think your scenario is a given, Rore - we are technically no longer a member of the SPL (Ross County attended the last SPL meeting at the end of May, not us) and I don't think the SPL rules allow for any specific scenario other than a club going bust mid-season.

When Gretna went bust they had already finished the season bottom and been relegated.

Of course the sneaky change of meeting to get Ross Co in - it'll be a mess surely (don't call me Shirley etc) if Dundee were to challenge for this place.

now wondering if CO has read that HMRC piece about them sharpening their knives for directors....

Here's my "sporting integrity" solution:

Given that a play-off between Pars and Dundee is impractical due to lack of squads/summer holidays, etc, each team nominates one player each. Each nominated player takes turn about to hit the bar from the centre spot under standard sudden-death rules.

Winner gets to stay in the SFL, loser gets promoted.
