I have a lotta love for Ajax and Dutch football in general so it's sad to see such a great club struggle.

Money really has ruined the game. It was a tragedy that mid nineties Ajax side was broken up so quickly.

:D

Great appointment for Fulham though, there must have been worriess about your ability to replace Hodgson with someone of a proven calibre.

Less so since we made the UEFA final last year.Fulham are pretty firmly on the map at the moment.
I wish they would get on with it though, as the pre-season is passing by, and there has been no real movement in the market yet.The new manager cant afford not to hit the ground running.Hodgsons style involved rigid planning and training, and things could go downhill pretty quickly if the momentum is lost.

I don't think any manager can do what Hodgson did for Fulham, he was simply the right bloke, for the right job, at the right time, with the right players. I fear an immediate and indefinite return to the "just got to stay up" mentality. I would very much like to be proven wrong, but Fulham has had some – on paper – decent managers (Sanchez excepted, natch) and only Hodgson managed to build and, crucially, the sustain strength and results.

Well looking at Adam's list above, it could have been a lot worse for Fulham. This is a very decent appointment by Fulham, although anyone following Hodgson has a hard act to follow. But Hughes was excellent at Blackburn and Wales, and okay at Man City, although you felt it was (in those circumstances) not the right club for him.

Quite happy with Hughes. He's quiet and understated, and I think he knows what he's doing. He can bring Steven Ireland with him too, as long as he leaves Bellamy behind.

Although he seems the only manager who can get on with Bellamy, he's produced much of his best football under Hughes.

I think he's actually a half decent player, and has done pretty well at City, but he's a trouble maker in the dressing room, and team spirit is what raises Fulham from the pack at the moment.
