Just in case you're not a frequent visitor to the My Way section, you can download the latest edition of my internet radio show here :D

A few (mainly) new albums that have been getting my attention in the last few days.

Subsignal - La Muerta.

Decent, after 2 plays - might be better.

Image

Spock’s Beard - Noise Floor

Their most immediate and possibly best yet in my opinion. Excellent.

Image

Marco Ragni - The Wandering Caravan

Seems to be highly rated but although I can generally find the good in most things these days I found this particular album tedious in the extreme. On 2nd run through I did wonder why I was putting myself through that again....

Pinnacle - A Blueprint for Chaos

American heavy prog band (not metal), with their 3rd album, released in 2012. Only played the once but plenty to like, so will investigate their recent release soon.

Image

Tumbletown - Never Too Late

Dutch band’s recent release. Well, I know I played it on Wednesday (Last FM confirms) but must have been distracted as I remember bugger all about it. Will revisit later!

Image

Brighteye Brison - The Magician Chronicles Part 1

I tried one of their albums a few years ago but found it a bit too noodly and lacking in melody so wasn’t particularly enamoured. Giving them another go and this (their most recent release, but from 7 years ago) sounded much better. Another worthwhile and interesting prog band from Sweden.

Ok so having now potentially upset the weak-minded, easily offended oddballs on here by posting up a few modern prog albums played during the week (but isn’t it just good to see some different pictures after all these years, if nothing else?) I am now going back to the 70s this cool Saturday morning.

NP

Jade Warrior - Way of The Sun

A mood piece. Nice when all you want is mellow. Suits me just fine at the moment, but not exactly drivetime commute music.

I love the OTT cheesiness of Swedish band JONO who sound like an operatic version of The Darkness with lots of Freddie chucked in.

Potty but great stuff.
