Only played it once this week but it seemed like a step up on their earlier (entirely decent) albums. One for the rotation playlist I think although there are too many on that already. Oh well, it definitely merits more ear-time, whenever.

Fish on Friday are a Belgian band strong on melody, not hugely progged up but sitting comfortably in the crossover sub genre I suppose.

Polish band’s album from 2016.

Sounds a lot like Riverside in their heavier moments, though not as good by any stretch. Not awful but now had a couple of plays and I don’t think I’ll bother with a 3rd.

Overture - self titled ebut album released this year from Italian band formed after the break up of Sons of The Rascals.

I’ve played it a couple of times and it has made a great impression. Super stuff.

Odd that the vocals switch from Italian to English half way through but it doesn’t spoil the enjoyment. Piano and flute in abundance but guitar is strong too. Recommended.

Laghonia - Etcetera

Peruvian band formed in the mid 60s who released 2 albums in 1971 and then disbanded.

Pretty sure I posted this one up a couple of months ago but it is worth repeating. Very decent. The debut album “Glue” is also worthwhile but a bit more patchy and has one of the most dire / dour album covers I’ve seen but they made up for that with this one!

A mate of mine was working with this guy recently and asked me if I had heard of him / the moniker Bikini Test Failure. Err, no. He asked me to give it a listen if I could track it down. Good old Spotify. What’s that sort of invitation / recommendation like usually...?

But actually I like this quite a lot on 1st listen. Good songs, well played, voice ok to decent.

Their 2nd album. Now that they have all popped up on Spotify I am working my way through the catalogue although have so far avoided the lower rated ones.

This is very good. If I put it on my Wish List there’s a chance Santa will bring it on Christmas night.
