Haven't played this for a while, still sounds great. For me this and New York are his finest.

Oh, I don't know - they're all right, I guess. Phantasmagoria is the best of the three, but they're really not my thing.

Agreed, along with Berlin, Rock and Roll Animal, Coney Island Baby, Street Hassle, The Blue Mask, and maybe New Sensations.

Hell, I like his first LP, and Magic and Loss too.

Happy with most of what you’ve listed Matt, in fact I’ve got most of those listed but I don’t like Berlin - I know it’s meant to be his masterpiece but I just don’t like it.

Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments 1977

Probably in the end, not as good as Crime of the Century or even Breakfast in America, but still worthy.

A band that's almost been written out of prog history and one that has become deeply unfashionable, yet were hugely popular for a few years.

Saw them live just before them became very big, I wasn't impressed, I think they were the support for what had just become T. Rex or the Groundhogs can't remember which.

I, too, saw them live before they became big. With a much different line up before their success, they were support to Roxy Music, who were promoting their debut album. Difficult band to categorise....not really prog, more substantial than pure pop. Bought "Crime of the Century" ....I still think it's nigh on faultless. Then saw them live promoting said album ......basically played the full album, note for note, but were BORING. Then bought "Crisis, what crisis?" It was ok, not as consistent as "Crime", but not bad. Saw them live again....still BORING. Support for the two live gigs were Joan Armatrading and Chris de Burgh .....BORING. Bought "Breakfast in America" ....it was ok, but never had the "pleasure" of seeing them live again. Never bothered with, in fact, can't remember ever hearing anything from "In the quietest moments". In conclusion, they are often objects of derision, but not always justified.

NEW MUSIC

Nice English guitar blues.

Image

Ian Neal's recent release. Largely instrumental - no racing pulse but a pleasant listen (which I suspect I said of his previous couple of albums).
