I guess it's not a huge shocker, but I've always found it peculiar that Charlie Daniels produced the Youngbloods record with 'Darkness, Darkness' on it. He plays on that track, too.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

re: the above, I decided to Google "grand funk" and "kevin ayers" to see if anything came up, and this did - from the Wiki page for GF's All The Girls In The World Beware!:
So, not that Kevin Ayers, I guess.
The recording engineer on the sessions was Shelly Yakus with assistance by Kevin Ayers and Rod O'Brien.

Did not know that. Weird choice.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk!

Re: Surprising credits
I just watched the first part of the new Grateful Dead doc. In the opening credits there are, seemingly, dozens of Executive Producers and then Producers named - and the last Producer named was Eric Eisner. I don't know for sure that it's the same guy, but an Eric Eisner wrote songs back in the '60s that were recorded by The Turtles and Buffalo Springfield ("Too Young To Be One" and "No Sun Today", respectively); I don't know why but I always idly wondered whatever became of him.
EDIT: a quick Google search leads me to the conclusion that the Eric Eisner behind the Grateful Dead doc is not the songwriting one... however, the songwriting one might very well be this guy.

And the text for the cover comic was written by John Junkin (Shake from A Hard Day's Night)!
EDIT: On further inspection, it turns out that Junkin wrote or co-wrote a majority of the songs on the disc, as well...

Dug out my old vinyl copy of Dylan's Street Legal a couple of weeks ago and was amazed to see that
Marty F received a special thank you on the bank.
There's also a Daniel Johnston album (the one with the Beatles on - can't look it up 'cos I'm not at home) where his thank yous include something along the lines of "everyone in the world who ever lived"

Probably the second one. Formerly Disney CEO Michael Eisner has a son named Eric, so my guess is that they're related somehow, either brothers or cousins, but I couldn't find anything specific before giving up.

Only just noticed the fine print on the back (near the boot on the right):

mountains from Norway
brick road from Bulgaria

Re: Surprising credits
Just noticed the other night that the back cover photo on Judy Collins' Wildflowers album (1967) is credited to "Jim Frawley" - presumably the TV director and actor James Frawley, who had a lot to do with the Monkees TV series (much more than just directing some episodes). His other credits include The Muppet Movie and several Columbo episodes (at least one of which he also appears in).

I think there is a recording engineer of that name who also gets a credit on their All The Girls... album

Just learned that
Mort Garson, pop songwriter ("Our Day Will Come", "Theme For A Dream") and orchestral arranger-turned-electronic music pioneer (The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds, Plantasia)...
