McCartney at 80: pick your 10

Postby GoogaMooga » 18 Jun 2022, 05:46

Paul McCartney is 80. He and Brian Wilson were born just two days apart. McCartney will likely go on till his dying day and has just wrapped his North American "Got Back Tour". His post-Beatles back catalog is quite extensive, both in and out of Wings. Many of the albums are patchy, but can we find 10 that we can enjoy from start to finish? Let's pick the McCartney top 10. The classical works and other peripheral projects are not included in the poll.

Think I've got all of the albums you listed Googa and the only ones I haven't got much time for are Broad Street and Kisses on the Bottom. Even the less good ones have got tracks on them worth having and some of the later solo ones are very good. 10 is difficult because my instant reaction is to go for the first solo ones and then the Wings' albums which leaves room for hardly any others.

First two and then six from Wings. Still leaves me with two: "Flaming Pie" and "Run Devil Run". I'd add two more that I enjoy from start to finish: "Chaos and Creation" and "CHOBA B CCCP" (but perhaps not as much as my top 10).
