Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Postby GoogaMooga » 13 Sep 2020, 05:00

I've been on an electric blues kick lately. Checking out some more names, digging a little deeper. Here's a lovely cut from 88, by the great Phillip Walker:

I prefer the Sonics song, myself.

I like Robert Cray's version.

Very good album.

Had the pleasure of meeting him once. Very polite, opened up when I asked after Lonesome Sundown - if you haven't checked out Been Gone Too Long, do so. Philip plays guitar on almost every track, though it's definitely Lonesome's album.

Have you heard Fenton Robinson? If you haven't yet, check out Somebody Loan Me a Dime, his '74 Alligator album - it's not your typical Alligator (or blues album).

Thanks for the heads-up, John. :) Fenton Robinson I know by name only.
