As Prefab Sprout's Paddy McAloon found out when he heard

Every track I’ve heard off it has been better than expected. So.......

At the time it really was quite a jawdropping cover, but I suspect these days there's much less shock value. Might even help it a bit. A different cover would probably lead to quite a scandal as well.

Puts me in mind of the original The Man Who Sold The World. Updated and cranked up to 110%

Well I have been enjoying this a lot. I love Kev's whacky angle on these songs and the arrangements don't seem dated.

Have just looked at the cover again.
It made me laugh as it has for over 30 years.
I never got people being shocked about it other than in an amused way.
Artists trying to get attention is never shocking because it's what they need to do if attention is required.
That was never lost on Rowland who always made a lot of effort to get the spotlight one way or another.
At this time Dexy's Midnight Bucket Rakers had long since come to an end and he was being pretty much ignored so he pushed the envelope hard with the cover for MB and we still remember it. Gid lad.
Some mother's talking 'bout Guns' n 'Roses
As if i give a fuck
At best i think they suck

I think his version of Concrete and Clay is my favourite version. I love Unit 4 + 2's of course, and Randy Edelman's is good too (his Farewell Fairbanks album is a guilty pleasure of mine). But Kev's version is so exciting!

Fuck me - I've just played it for the first time ever (well certainly that I can remember) and it is absolutely fucking remarkable.

What a beautiful beautiful album.

Not always an easy listen.
But yes.

Did the version you played have Thunder Road on it?

It did. But I decided to stop at "Reflections Of My Life" as that's the original album ,isn't it?

I'll give "Thunder Road" a listen soon.

I will NOT be playing "You'll Neve Walk Alone" obviously.

'Thunder Road' was planned to be part of the original album but some issue over lyric changes meant it couldn't be included on the original release.

You hate YNWA so much you can't even bring yourself to spell it correctly :D
