Digging The Searchers

Postby The Modernist » 23 Aug 2017, 13:20

Reading the comments on The Searchers in the other thread, BCB seems a little apathetic or ignorant of them and that's a shame really because you've got some great effervescent, sunblast 60s pop. Here's a selection of deeper cuts for your delectation:

How about some of their shallower cuts, or singles, which we've all heard. In my case, sometimes before they cut them.
Note how they copied the arrangements as well as the vocals (when they could)

I'm much less interested in the earlier work Ray. I'm more into some of their 65-68 cuts.

But Ray's choices are much more fun, G. With respect ;)

I agree. Everyone who enjoys 60's beat/pop should have at least a Searchers "Best of."

Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Prez is a big fan and he and I seemed to be the only ones who would discuss them when he'd occasionally bring them up.

I'm done. You guys are dilettantes.

I bought a Seekers record called Seekers Seen In Green last week thinking it was the Searchers
Closer examination reveals it was not, and that there's a lady on the front cover, so if I'd thought for more than two seconds I would have remembered the difference
Hope this helps

Did you guys talk about their (surprisingly good) 79-80 power pop records on Sire?

I'm still interested in what you mean by I'm a dilettante for simply starting a thread on a band I like, as if I've done something wrong.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but your post just seemed very strange and unnecessary.

speaking of strange and unnecessary...

I was dismissive of them in that other thread because "Needles and Pins" annoys me.
I suppose it annoys me in a good way. I do like a lot of their songs. I was being a dick. I do that sometimes.

I was only kidding because Prez and I have talked about the Searchers for years on here with nary a peep from anyone else.
