Carthy and Simon resolved their differences years ago.

Refresh my memory, Jeemo. Carthy wrote the melody to "Scarborough Fair?"

They 'made nice', and Carthy's box set starts with Simon's (smarmy, to my ears) introduction. Doesn't mean they resolved their differences, I think it's more Carthy deciding life's too short. I suspect he still thinks Simon's annoying.

Carthy didn't write the melody, but Simon basically used his arrangement and took credit for it himself. There was lots of that going on in the folk scene, of course, and there's really no legal recourse for that kind of thing. So what's usually done is verbal or written acknowledgement of the source. Bob Dylan used it as a basis for "Girl From North Country," and said so on the liner notes and gave Carthy a very nice plug. I think the issue is that Simon didn't do that until 40 years later.

Carthy had an arrangement of Scarborough Fair which he wrote down and gave to Simon. Songs and tunes are usually pass on by ear in folk circles.

Carthy thought wrongly for years that Simon had taken the song writing credit for it. Whereas Simon given credit in interviews about where the song had come from.

Wait, "Girl From the North Country" uses the same melody as "Scarborough Fair?" I'm going to have to go back and listen to those songs again.

aw, thanks
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I can't remember ever being aware of hearing it and I don't recall what the singles were.

I'm good with that.
