Look at Minnie jazzin’ up her life!
NP Charles Mingus - The Jazz Workshop Concerts 1964-1965 (Mosaic box)
I’ve been vacillating between joyous Latin music and deep revolutionary blues by way of the jazz train today. RBG’s passing is just another nail in the coffin on top of C19, the fires and the general ickiness that is the political animal in this country. The good thing is we’ve had three days in a row of blue skies though it did smell smoky outside this morning. Can’t help thinking of the people dealing with the virus, people losing property and lives and the general shit the world is dealing at the moment and that’s just my little corner of this great big rock.

We've had a handful of rainy and dark days, thanks to the tropical storm, so it's been Debussy piano stuff played by GIeseking and, now, Roge.

Outsiders - CQ (1968)
This band was in "the zone" when they recorded this.

Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

GALAXIE 500 This Is Our Music
Today is apparently this record’s 30th birthday.

Gosh. I remember seeing their gig at ULU on Manet St, London promoting that LP in November-ish that year.
ULU is (was?) the University of London Student Union venue and I remember feeling a little old that night because almost all the other attendees were about 10 years younger than me.
And that night was almost 30 years ago?
Oh. My. Word.
NP (something slightly more recent, but still 10 years old):

I tried to buy this at the weekend, but it’s a few hundred quid!

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

They're so ashamed of their talent on that record.
Better than Pod at least.
I'm listening to all these for the first time in deep dive fashion. Nearly done, too.

You’re supposed to stop doing nitrous when you become a parent, you know.

An uncomfortable record, but I prefer it to their Johnny Cougar Midwest Rock phase that followed with Pageant and Document. I think.

JAN HAMMER GROUP "Melodies"
I got hipped to this through erstwhile BCBer's mspecktor's newsletter and playlist, which included "Don't You Know," a perfect little record. The rest of the record doesn't live up to it, but I'm playing it for the second time, all the same.
