Spencer always seemed to be a spare part. Apart from some slide (yawn), always found him inconsequential. Fleetwood Mac, literally a tale of two bands...but there was only one Peter Green. You can list twenty songs from the Nick's/Buckingham era and you think, pretty good. You then hear "Man of the world", "Oh well" and "Green Manalishi" and it's game, set and match

Where it all went wrong for them, one or two good things on here but that's about it.

Excellent article about them in this month's "Uncut". Dozens and dozens of demos starting 1975, including one song called "Disco", which became "Heart of glass". It started to fall apart when heroin raised it's ugly head

Not quite sure I fully agree with you with your last sentence but those three Peter Green tracks do take some beating - you could also add Black Magic Woman to that list. Man of the World one of my all time favourites.

I saw the very first incarnation of FM on their first tour of the UK, following the release of the first album and they were excellent. Got all their autographs and stuck them on the back of the record only really stupidly to sell it a couple of years later - I wish I hadn't done that!

Yeah, have you read Debbie Harry's autobiography just drugs, drugs and more drugs - it became quite a bore to read it.

No, I've not read it but I guessed it would be written in a similar vein (sic). Blimey that was very NME 1970's :D

That would be my virtual word-for-word assessment.

NEW MUSIC

Zoungla - Source

Saw a review that sounded interesting (including the phrase "I love how squishy and squirty these albums sound" and "everything from progressive rock to electronic to cinematic to dub / reggae) - but it's not for me. Too electronic and squishy and squirty for me. But I did get what he meant!

The front cover picture might well tell you all you need to know about this album. Grotty cover picture - what's going on with Debbie's hair, is there a point to be made, is she supposed to be a lion or some other big cat (the Hunter)? Terrible artwork, a patchy album but maybe not as bad as it has been made out to be. What do you reckon?

Is that Toyah Wilcox, she had hair or a wig like that once didn’t she? Couldn’t stand her screeching.

Indeed, it is Mrs Fripp. As a person, she comes across as very personable. As a singer ....dear God, a Frankenstein's monster of Kate Bush

NP CD2

Heard most of these tracks many times but I never tire of hearing any of them. A time of invention, exploration and pushing the limits in music.
