Nice bit of Canterbury with Wyatt and Dave Sinclair. We get pop tracks and a cool jam (much longer version added as a bonus track on the double CD). Nothing earth-shattering, mind, but I dig it nonetheless.

Yes, a bit disappointing.

Not the sum of the parts.....

.

I can cope with maybe three tracks featuring Wyatt's voice before I feel like slashing my wrists

Well this sounded pretty fine on 1st listen.

This track (which I’ve now played 3 times) starts off with a light touch, almost poppy, but then turns into a monster, with a stunning growling sax leading the way.

Following PSL discussion on second album Fixin' ...

Is their debut, Electric Music, the best?

I'm not sure

Not sure C. I’d have to listen to them both again - both are pretty good as I remember - prefer the cover design of the second though.

Listened to both of these this p.m. C. Having reminded myself about the first and then about half way through the second I began to feel that the first was the best. However the second started to reveal itself more and more and it got to the point where I just couldn't decide which one was the best. Both are excellent, the first has greater immediate gratification but the second grows and grows. I'm afraid I'm going to sit on the fence and say it's a draw - both excellent.

Heard most of this stuff too many times to mention but never tire of it.

Both Country Joe albums in '67 are great. Bay Area psych at its finest. Two of the best tracks on Electric Music are "Section 43" and "Bass Strings," which are re-recordings of superior versions previously released on an EP.

The tracks sound like one long jam to me. The female vocals don't impress either. In terms of Canterbury, I'd probably rather listen to Matching Mole.

Mayall moves away from guitar and into a more jazzy blues. Nice album.
