11, just missed two more.

For those yet to play. I put this comment under a spoiler:

If you can't identify the lyrics to No Quarter or the title of Black Mountain Side given abundant clues, and think Andrew Loog Oldham's contribution to popular music was his piano playing, you really have no business being on Mastermind.

Is one to assume 'Quaffing Great Quantities of Snakebite And Being A Gormless Student' is a category already taken by an earlier contestant?

5, including two guesses.

I agree with the basic thrust of LMG's spoiler point but I suspect it would be tough for anyone much younger than us to do well at this sort of category.
I can't bear Led Zeppelin but, by being a general rock/pop music fan since that period, I've picked up bits of information about them without even trying. Terry Reid, John Peel and Ian Stewart are all threads in rock's rich tapestry that many of us have spotted just from browsing. It would be much harder for a youth, coming at it fresh, to learn.

Stupid choice of subject really.
Bugger off.

The guy knew nothing.

Just a little bit of study would have got three or four more - I was surprised what he didn't know!
