In essence I cannot imagine I would ever choose not to include "Sticky Fingers" so it's latter day for me.
Nicotine, valium, vicadin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol -

I always thought that the cut-off point was the Jumping Jack Flash single and pretty much thought that was the consensus.
I run out of talent

that makes a lot of sense
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

The Sleazier the better. I like them when they became actual debauched and not the Andrew Loog Oldham pissing behind a gas station debauched and running towards the nearest policeman to tell him what they just did and if he could cite them for misconduct.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk!

With JJF being the start of phase 2 not the end of phase 1? It's where they turn into a rock band after losing direction for a couple of years trying to be dandies.
turn on, tune in, nod off

The cut-off point is after Brian isn't it?

Spotty though they were it'll always be the Brian Stones that win out.

From Beggars Banquet onwards they epitomise some kind of libertarian lifestyle that’s become synonymous with “rock n roll”. A combination of Dionysian decadence (drugs busts, Anita Pallenberg, Marianna Faithful) and social/political revolution (Street Fighting Man, Sympathy For The Devil, Salt Of The Earth). The inner sleeve of Beggars Banquet was a stroke of genius. It’s undeniably a powerful thing because it espouses a lifestyle although this allure has faded for me over the years.

The Brian Jones era is different but musically it is more colourful and much, much sharper. It’s a shame that people so often define them by those latter albums rather than that singles run which, for me anyway, peaked between 65-68 because I think that ultimately represents the best of the Stones.

Sartorially too they were sharper as well. That 66/67 dandy period, like the early Who, represents some kind of fashion peak for rock music.

They all looked a bit over-ripe to me ,not as natural (or as relaxed) as The Small Faces. When they slouched in the 70s, that was a better look.
